U21 A FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI-FINAL:
A thrilling but very frustrating game for Rangers saw Dohenys advance to the U21 West Cork Final after a titantic battle in Castlehaven last Sunday.
The sides were level four times during the game and on the 60th minute the game turned in favour of Dohenys when Rangers weren't awarded a free which would have given them the lead . Instead it was Dohenys who were awarded a free out and from there they went onto win in a frantic closing period of seven minutes of injury time.
Dohenys had five points on the board before Rangers opened their account. Five points from Daragh Hayes , and one each from Paul and Mark Hodnett saw Dohenys ahead at half time , 0-09 to 0-07.
It was ten points each soon after the restart but Dohenys went three ahead before Ciaran Calnan kicked a high ball in and Jp Eady was at the end of it to punch it to the net. Level again after 15 minutes. Rangers took the lead for the first time after Paul Hodnett pointed but the lead was short lived with Dohenys equalizing soon after . In a hectic closing period, Rangers will feel hard done by in not getting a free on the 60 th minute to give them the lead, and Dohenys pushed on despite Rangers best efforts to win 0-20 to 1-13.

PREMIER 1 MINOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP:The minors had a  deserving win in the opening round of the P1 minor championship on Saturday against Douglas in Kilbrittain , by a single point, full time score Carbery Rangers 1-12  Douglas 0-14. The game was as close as the scoreline suggests throughout and Rangers were relieved when the ref blew the full time whistle after almost 7 minutes of injury time. This was a superb team performance and despite being down to fourteen men ten minutes into the second half, the effort by everyone was huge all through the game. Araon O Brien pulled off some top class saves,  Rangers defended well in every position, dominated and  won  the breaks around the middle and played direct attacking  football ,running at the Douglas defence at every opportunity.Playing with the aid of a strong wind, Douglas were two points ahead before Paul Hodnett opened Rangers account after seven minutes. Further points from Paul Hodnett, Eoghan Hayes, Danny Mcsweeney and Evan Browne  gave Ross the lead midway through the first half,  0-07 to 0-04 and they extended their lead  further when Ciaran Calnan and Paul Hodnett combined well before Paul Hodnett found Ciaran Santry and he made no mistake in scoring a well taken  goal on the 26th minute to put  Rangers ahead 1-07 to 0-04 . But Douglas responded with three unanswered points and at half time it was 1-07 to 0-07 In favour of Ross. The second half started like the first ended, Douglas scoring three points on the trot to have the sides level after just two minutes. A point from Paul Hodnett gave Ross the lead but it was short lived as Douglas scored two from play to give them the lead for the first time since early in the first half with ten minutes gone in the second half. The came what could have been a turning point in the game, a red card was dished out to one of the Rangers defenders but the team's response was impressive  and points from Jp Eady and Paul Hodnett put them back in front by the minimum .Douglas levelled on the 28th  minute and a free from Paul Hodnett nudged Rangers ahead in injury time  a lead they held onto , defending superbly to win 1-12 to 0-14.Team: Araon O Brien,  Sean Hurley,  David O Regan,  Kieran O Regan,  Killian Keane,  Eoghan Hayes 0-01, Caolan Hayes,  Ciaran Calnan, Jp Eady 0-01, Ray Shanahan,  Paul Hodnett 0-07 (0-04 frees), Danny Mcsweeney 0-01, Evan Browne 0-01, Jack O Regan,  Ciaran Santry 1-01. SENIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP:Two Ilen Rover"s goals had Rangers behind from early on in the first half of their opening game in the Cork Senior Football Championship ,a game that ended in defeat for Rangers,  full time score ,Carbery Rangers1-09 Ilen Rovers 2-09. Playing with the aid of a strong wind, Rangers found themselves 2-01 to 0-03 behind after thirteen minutes. Ilen goaled on the fourth minute and their second on the thirteenth was saved initially by Rangers keeper Ronan Milner but Ilen scored the rebound. At half time it was Ilen who lead 2-02 to Rangers 0-04 with the influential John O Rourke kicking three points.Ilen kicked the first three points of the second half though Ross were unlucky when Mark Hodnett's shot at goal hit the post, and Ilen were seven points ahead before  Rangers began to  play better football. John Hayes, who couldn't start due to injury, was introduced and Ilen's lead was down to two after he pointed and Daragh Hayes scored a great goal. Further points from John O Rourke and John Hayes aswell as two from Ilen meant it was a two point game for much of the end of the second half and the goal that Rangers needed never came and just before the final whistle Ilen got the final point of the match to give them a three point win.

UNDER 21 A COUNTY FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The U21's are out of the U21 A  County Football Championship after a nail biting finish to their game against St Michael's on Saturday evening last in Carrigadrohid. It was a game of two halves , with Rangers goalie Aaron O Brien giving a Man of the match performance , in both halves,  for the outstanding saves he made and the numerous high balls he caught.Rangers had the better of Michael's in the first half with Rob Hegarty commanding the defence.  A well worked point from Paul Hodnett opened the scoring after five minutes  and with twenty six  minutes gone Rangers had opened up a  five point lead , 0-06 To 0-01, the points coming from frees from Mark Hodnett and Daragh Hayes and a point from play from Daragh Hayes also.  Michaels got their second before Patrick Hurley got the final score of the half to leave the half time score 0-07 to 0-02 To Rangers.By the fifteenth minute of the second half,  St Michael's had the sides level at seven points each and but for the outstanding Aaron O Brien,  Michael's could have had three goals. Approaching the 29th minute Rangers were two ahead courtesy of two Mark Hodnett frees and looked like they would hold on. U16 PREMIER 2 U16 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIPCarbery Rangers travelled to Ahiohill on Monday evening to play Valley Rovers in the losers round of the P2 U16 Football Championship and needed to win to stay in the competition.Playing a very strong and fancied Valley Rovers,  Rangers put in a huge effort all over the pitch and had the very strong wind in their favour for the first half. Peadar O Rourke opened the scoring but Valleys soon levelled before going 2 points to one up . After thirteen minutes the sides were level three points each, when Darragh Twomey in goal for Rangers pulled off a magnificent and crucial save.  Both sides exchanged points and Valleys were one point up 0-05 to 0-04 when Ciaran Santry slotted home a goal to the right of the Valleys keeper to put Rangers ahead 1-04 to 0-05 with 27 minutes gone.. Another Ciaran Santry point and a free from Peadar O Rourke gave Rangers a four point lead at half time 1-06 to Valley's 0-05.Having played with the aid of a very strong wind, it looked like Rangers lead of 1-06 to 0-05 might not have been enough given the strength of the wind but a fantastic performance in a very tough and physical second half  saw Rangers hold on to win 2-09 to 0-10 wuth a few few positional changes paying off .Within seconds of the restart another point from Peadar O Rourke streched Rangers lead to 1-07 to 0-05 but for the next 19 minutes it  was Rovers who did the scoring, getting four points on the trot to have only a point seperating the teams with eleven minutes remaining.  But Rangers stayed composed , while Valleys had a player red carded for a second yellow.Points from Ciaran Santry and Conor Twomey and one from Valleys had only two points separating the sides entering injury time. Despite Valleys best efforts to get a goal, outstanding defending by Rangers  meant their was no way through for them . A clinical finish from Conor Twomey at the other end  added another goal for Rangers with time up and gave them a deserving win.Full Time Score,  Carbery Rangers 2-09 Valley Rovers 0-10.Team: Darragh Twomey,  Patrick Daly David O Dwyer Cillian Eady Eamon Hodnett Michael Twomey Niall Keane  Seamus O Mahony Jack Kevane  Darragh Calnan Peadar O Rourke 0-05 (0-04 F)  Sam Linehan Ryan Hayes Conor Twomey 1-01 Ciaran Santry 1-03 (0-02F) Subs Ronan Hayes Andrew Kevane.

PREMIER 1 MINOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIPAfter a dogged fight with Ballincollig in the winner's round of the Premier 1 Minor Football Championship,  played last Wednesday evening in Ahiohill, Carbery Rangers are through to County Semi-final,  winning 2-14 to 0-15.The saying goals win matches was never so apt as two goals from Rangers, one that brought them back into the game in the first half when it looked like Rangers were in trouble, courtesy of a brilliant finish by Peadar O Rourke and the other that came with 2 minutes left in the game and Rangers with a dangerous lead of a point, decided the game when Ciaran Calnan found the back of the Ballincollig net after a great move, were  both  at crucial times in the game. After seven minutes it was two points each and by the 22nd minute Ballincollig had taken the lead 0-07 to 0-03 . At this point it looked like the game was going to slip away but Rangers steadied themselves and Peadar o Rourke's excellent goal and well taken points from Paul Hodnett, Peadar O Rourke and Evan Browne gave Rangers a three point lead at half time despite Ballincollig dominating for much of it.Half time score 1-07 to 0-07.Three minutes into a very tough second half where both teams battled hard and both turned over a lot of ball, Rangers lead was back to a point and for the next 25 minutes it was end to end stuff with Rangers hanging onto their one point lead . Rangers were unlucky not to have had a goal midway through the half when Evan Browne's shot went over the bar. By the 28th minute and leading by a point , Rangers continued to try and break through the Ballincollig defence and eventually a great run through the middle by Barry Kerr saw  Ciaran Calnan at the end of a move to score a crucial goal and a point from a free by Paul Hodnett in injury time gave Ross a five point win and much relief when the ref blew the final whistle. Team Araon O Brien, Seamus O Mahony, David O Regan, Kieran O Regan, Caolan Hayes, Kelan Scannell, Eoghan Hayes, Ciaran Calnan 1-00, Barry Kerr, Evan Browne 0-02, Jack O Regan 0-01, Peadar O Rourke 1-02, Paul Hodnett 0-07 (0-05 frees), Daniel Mc Sweeney 0-02, Ciaran Santry Subs Jack Kevane Conor Twomey.

•The club wishes to congratulate and express it's delight and pride at the recent success of the Cork U20's in winning the All Ireland U20 Football Final last Saturday against Dublin in Portlaoise.  Player Mark Hodnett and Coach Maurice Moore, aswell as all those involved with this Cork team are to be commended for their outstanding contribution to the success of the U20's. What they have achieved in the last six months is incredible and to beat Kerry  Tyrone and Dublin so convincingly is a credit to themselves . A panel and management full of resilience,  determination and belief,  they recovered from a 1-06 to 0-00 lead by Dublin after eleven minutes and in remarkable style went onto win . As in the Tyrone game  Mark had a huge impact when introduced early in the second half. A very proud day for the Moore and Hodnett families,  the club , the parish and county. They have turned the tide in Cork Football and those lucky enough to have been in Portlaoise contributed to one of the greatest atmospheres in a long time at a Cork game. Well done again to everyone involved with this Cork team especially our own two men!On Monday evening the team and management travelled West to Ilen Rovers,  the home of the Captain Peter O Driscoll and en route they stopped off at the Celtic Ross Hotel where a large crowd greeted them including their families,  friends  club players and members. •Also the Cork Seniors played Roscommon in their last game in the Super 8's, and whilst they lost all 3 games in their group, they will be happy with their improvement and performances since the league. John O Rourke came on in the Roscommon game and scored a great point.• The Cork Minor Football Team play Mayo this Saturday August 10th in the All Ireland Minor Football Semi-final in Croke Park at 3pm. SENIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP :
In a classic second  round game in the Cork Senior Football Championship,  Carbery Rangers outclassed  Castlehaven after Extra Time in dwindling light in Skibb on Saturday evening, and will now play St Finbarr's next Sunday in Bandon at 3pm.The outcome of this game wasn't decided until deep into extra time when John Hayes who was outstanding all through ,pointed and Brian Shanahan sealed victory for Rangers 2-17 to 1-18.Rangers had the wind in the first half and had 5 points on the board but the Haven responded to cut the deficit to a point before 2 killer goals in 60 seconds just before half time from Rob Hegarty and John Hayes,  gave Rangers a half time leaf of 2-07 to 0-06.After the resumption,  Haven played with intent and had seven unanswered points to level matters 15 minutes in. The game was  as exciting as one could get with both sides exchanging points in the final ten minutes , before  points from John Hayes looked like it was to be Rangers day but a defensive mix up presented Castlehaven with a goal opportunity and they made no mistake to have the sides level at full time,  2-12 to 1-15.In the first period of extra time,  Castlehaven took the lead for the first time in the game but Rangers responded well with 2 points from John Hayes and John O Rourke. In the second period of extra time both sides exchanged points before Haven got another to have the sides level with 3 minutes left. CORK GAA SENIOR FOOTBALL
In what has been one of the busiest weeks of the year in the club with matches , there are no words to describe how proud everyone is of the performance our Seniors gave in the Cork Gaa Senior Football Championship game on Sunday against St Finbarr's.
They played their finest football of the season, they left everything they had on the pitch and died with their boots on out there. Immensely proud of the entire team and management and the huge effort they put in. In seven days they played 160 minutes of football with yesterday's performance exceptional and they can hold their heads up with pride at the classic game they served up to us all.
After 20 minutes Rangers were ahead 1-04 to 0-03, the goal coming from John Hayes and had dominated proceedings all over the pitch.and were much sharper than their opponents. For the next ten minutes , The Barrs came into the game more and got 4 unanswered points and Rangers had a let off when Paul Shanahan in goal made a brilliant save from Sherlock . Half time score 1-05 to 0-09 in favour of the Barrs.
Rangers started the second half with intent and renewed energy and scored 5 points without reply to make it 1-09 to 0-07, totally dominating the game . A point from the Barrs was followed by a penalty to levels the sides again before Kevin McMahon gave Rangers the lead . Excellent goal keeping from the Rangers keeper Paul Shanahan led to a Rangers point from James O Riordain to put Rangers 2 in front. But the Barrs replied with 3 points to put them one ahead in the 59th minute. But Rangers worked the ball well and a foul on John O Rourke gave the outstanding John Hayes the chance to level matters which he duely did to take the game to extra time.
The first period of ET saw both sides score two points each , but after 3 minutes into the second period of extra time, John Hayes scored a point to put Rangers ahead by one but it was the last time they were to lead as the Barrs levelled soon after and then came the decisive score, a goal with time almost up, to put the Barrs ahead by 3.
Rangers did their best to get that goal that they needed but it wasn't to be and the Barrs won 2-17 to 1-17.
Once again, the club would like to express their pride in the performance given by the players and their hard work all year as well as that of the management.
Team Paul Shanahan, Rob Hegarty, Jerry O Riordain, Mick O Donovan, James O Riordain0-01 Paudie Hodnett, Tomas O Rourke, James Fitzpatrick, Alan Jennings0-01, Brian Hodnett, Mark Hodnett , Brian Shanahan 0-02 John O Rourke 0-03 , John Hayes 1-07 , Daragh Hayes 0-01.
Subs, Seamus Hayes0-01 for Mick O Donovan injured 17 mins, Kevin McMahon 0-01 for Mark Hodnett black card 44 mins,Patrick Hurley for Daragh Hayes 51 mins, Ml Mennis for Brian Shanahan black card 69mins, Declan Hayes for Seamus Hayes half time in Extra Time, Cathal Hennessey for Tom O Rourke black card 77mins.

JUNIOR A FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
A great team performance by the Carbery Rangers Junior A Footballers over Muintir Bhaire , 1-16 to 2-07 , in the Junior A Football Championship Quater Final has earned them a place in the Carbery Junior A Football Championship Semi-final against Ballinascarthy in 2 weeks time.
Both sides exchanged points before Rangers took a firm grip on the game and points from Cathal O Rourke, Ciaran Calnan , Jack O Regan and a goal from Paul Hodnett had them in the lead after 11 minutes 1-07 to 0-01.
Ross continued to dominate and at half time time lead 1-11 to 1-03.
A penalty for Muintir Bhaire early in the second half gave them a glimmer of hope but Rangers held their heads and superb goal keeping from Shane O Sullivan aswell as an overall great performance from the team gave them a comfortable win.
TEAM Shane O Sullivan Kieran O Regan 0-01 Stephen O Donoghue Cian Daly Micheál O Mahony Diarmuid Kerr Anthony Roche Timmy O Donoghue 0-01 Kieran Fitzpatrick 0-01 Ciaran Calnan 0-01 Cathal O Rourke 0-06 ( 0-02 pt) Sean O Neill Mark Ronan 0-01 Jack O Regan 0-02 Paul Hodnett 1-02

REBEL OG PREMIER 2 U16 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTER FINAL, Carbery Rangers V Aghada :
Carbery Rangers are through to the semi final of The Premier 2 U16 Football Championship after their hard fought and impressive win against Agahada FT score 2-11 to 2-09.
Within seconds of the thrown in , Aghada had goaled but Rangers stayed calm and focused and by the 9th minute were ahead 1-04 to 1-00 after a cracker of a Daragh Calnan goal , 2 Peadar O Rourke points and one from Niall Keane. Peadar got another great goal after some great team work and at half time Rangers were ahead 2-05 to 1-04. They defended well, with all the defenders playing great football. Around the middle, we were winning some great balls and also the breaks ,as a result the forwards were getting good ball and using it well
The second half was edge of your seat style football with both sides going for it with everything they had. Excellent play all over the pitch and super scores from Ciaran Santry , Jack Kevane and Daragh Calnan had Ranges looking impressive heading into the last 10 minutes but Aghada scored a goal on the 21st min to put the minimum between the teams, 2-09 to 2-08 in favour of Ross. It was end to end stuff from there on, with the minimum separating the sides and despite Aghada 's best efforts at getting a goal, they couldn't get through the Ross defense or pass the impressive Darragh Twomey in goal, and after 5 minutes of injury time were well deserving of their two point win.
Team : Darragh Twomey, Patrick Daly David O Dwyer Killian Eady Eamon Hodnett Seamus O Mahony Sam Linehan Jack Kevane 0-02 Michael Maguire Peadar O Rourke 1-01 Niall Keane 0-01 Darragh Calnan 1-02 Andrew Kevane Conor Twomey Ciaran Santry 0-05

REBEL OG WEST U14 DIVISION 2 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Our U14's had a tough battle in The Rebel Og West U14 Football Championship Division 2 Winner's Round against Naomh Abán in Castletownkennigh.
Naomh Abán were physically stronger and our very young team found it hard to break through their defence but credit to the young Rangers , they never gave up and have another go in the quarter final. Cian Barry had an excellent game in goal saving a penalty in the first half.

REBEL OG WEST U12 DIVISION 2 FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Carbery Rangers 1-19 Newcestown 3-02.
Congratulations to Carbery Rangers U12's who had an outstanding win in the Rebel Og West U12 Football League Division 2 Football Semi-final and are now through to the final against Castlehaven in Ardagh this Thursday August 29th at 7pm.
They overcame a very physical Newcestown playing stylish football and working hard all over the pitch.
From the thrown in Rangers dominated and persisting fouling was punished by the Rangers free taking abilities of Dylan O Neill and Eric Hicks .
Rangers were awesome in defense, turning over possession on numerous occasions, with Pádraig Tobin controlling proceedings from the back. Our midfielders fed the forwards with quality ball and worked tirelessly throughout. Upfront , the forwards were superb as a unit and the style of football they played was exceptional.
Rangers raced into a 7 point lead before Newcestown got 2 goals just before half time to leave Ross ahead at half time 1-07 to 2-01.
In the second half Rangers were awarded several frees and Newcestown were reduced to 14 men after 9 mins. Dominating all over the pitch and giving an excellent team display , Rangers were deserved winners, 1-18 to 3-02.

Club News 9th October 2019
REBEL OG PREMIER 1 MINOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI-FINAL Played at a blistering pace, Rangers were beaten by Ballincollig in the Premier 1 Minor Football Championship Semi-final,  1-08 to 1-04 in Cloughduv on Wednesday night last. Having beaten Ballincollig in the winner's round of the competition,  Rangers had the lead for large spells of the game . Evan Browne opened the scoring with a point, followed by a point on the turn from Paul Hodnett.  Ballincollig replied with two points and but for Ranger's goalie,  Araon O Brien , who was outstanding through out, Ballincollig could have had a goal . Minutes later, the net was rattled at the other end when Paul Hodnett converted from the penalty spot . Another point from Ballincollig just before the half time whistle, meant Rangers lead 1-02 to 0-03 at half time after  a very tight and competitive first half and everything to play for in the second. Both sides exchanged points early in the second half, Rangers through a well taken Caolan Hayes point before the turning point came fifteen minutes in. A scramble in the Ross goal ended in Ballincollig finding the net and this spurred their momentum and gave them a one point lead entering the final quarter. Three further points put them four ahead and despite Ranger's frantic efforts they couldn't get the scores  they needed. A Jack O Regan free reduced  Ballincollig's lead to three points with injury time looming and a pointed free with two minutes gone in injury time was the insurance point Ballincollig needed to advance to the final, full time score,  Carbery Rangers 1-04 Ballincollig 1-08.Hard luck to Rangers who worked hard through out , in a game which wasn't over until Ballincollig got their insurance point in injury time. They had an excellent year with two great victories in their previous games against the two teams who are now in the final, Ballincollig and Douglas. TEAM Araon  O’Brien: Caolan Hayes 0-01,  Jack Kevane, Seamus O’Mahony: Eoghan Hayes, Kelan Scannell, Kieran O’Regan; Barry Kerr, Ciaran Calnan: Peadar O’Rourke, Paul Hodnett 1-01, Evan Browne 0-01 Ciaran Santry, Jack O’Regan 0-01 Cillian Keane.

Subs: Conor Twomey , Sam Linehan , David O’Dwyer.

REBEL OG WEST U12 A FOOTBALL CUP FINAL

An outstanding display by the U12's ended in heart break at the final whistle for these young Rangers when they played Macroom in the final in Clon on Sunday evening, Full Time Score, Carbery Rangers 1-10 Macroom 1-12.Their skill, work rate, team play are to be commended in what was an outstanding game and in the end it was Macroom's physical advantage that was the difference between the two sides.  Dylan O Neill opened the scoring for Ross within seconds of the throw in with a top class goal and both sides exchanged scores before Rangers took the lead after 10 mins, a lead they never lost  until the 25th minute of the second half.  Rangers defended in numbers , their work rate and passing from the backs up to the forwards  was  top class and Adam Baker in goal pulled off some excellent saves  At half time the sides were level 1-06 each and the large support was enjoying every minute of it. The second half was played like the first, Rangers working hard all over the pitch,  and with 24 minutes gone,  the sides were level 1-10 each . At this stage,  Macroom's physical advantage told and they scored two points without reply and held on to win , full time score,  Carbery Rangers 1-10 Macroom 1-12. Heart breaking for the young Rangers , but they, along with their management can be very proud of their superb performance in the final and in all their games this year.TEAM Adam Baker Karol McCarthy Ben Sheehy Mathew O Regan Ryan Fitzpatrick 0-01 Padraig Tobin Sean CuinneaCathal Buchanan Dylan Scannell 0-01 Seamus Lane Dylan O Neill 1-06(0-05 F) Ronan Hayes Ivan Eady 0-01 Jerry McCarthy 0-01  Eric HicksSubs: Rory McCarthy Ciaran Campbell Evan O Mahony Kevin Duffy Liam Grace Rory Hayes Christopher O Brien Cormac O Donobhain.

U16 PREMIER 2 U16 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP FINALRangers travelled to Cloughduv on Tuesday night last to play Ballygarvan in the Premier 2 U16 Football Championship Final.  In atrocious weather conditions, Ciaran Santry had goaled for Ross after three minutes , and was making good  use of the great ball he was getting in. After 16 minutes the sides were level 1-03 a piece and for the remainder of the half Ballygarvan dominated , scoring 2-06 to Rangers 1-03 to give them a three point lead at half time 2-09 to 2-04. Ballygarvan started the second half well and after 16 minutes were well in control 2-11 to 2-05. But Rangers stayed calm and determined and they dominated the remainder of the half and had Ballygarvan's lead back to three with time almost up with fine points from Peadar O Rourke,  Conor Twomey and Ciaran Santry. Rangers tried hard to get the goal that they needed but appauling weather made it very difficult for both teams and Ballygarvan held on to win 2-11 to 2-08.Hard luck to the Ross lads and their management.
