The under 12 footballers got their 2016 campaign off to a winning start on Monday night last with a one point victory over Castlehaven on a final score of 4-9 to 2-14. A pointed Ross free left two between them and in one last all out effort, Ross through caution to the wind and went on an all-out attack. Senior Footballers
Well done to the senior footballers who had a good win over Douglas on Saturday night in round 2A of the Cork senior football championship game played in Dunmanway on a final score of 1-13 to 0-12. Ross had a good start to the game, with James Fitzpatrick and Brian Shanahan winning a lot of ball around the middle of the field and the forwards causing the Douglas defense plenty of problems. Resulting in the Ross lads leading at the break on a score of 1-8 to 0-3 with Kieran Fitzpatrick getting the only goal of the game. In the second half Douglas managed to reduce the score to a single goal with time nearly up through some good free taking from Alan Cadogan. The Ross defenders and goalkeeper managed well with the Douglas attacks to prevent them from getting the important goal. And a late point from John Hayes sealed the win for Ross.

Under 12 footballers beat Dunmanway and the second team were beaten by Kilmacabea after a great performance
Under 12 Footballers
Well done to the under 12 footballers who had a good win over Dunmanway on Saturday, winning out on a final score of 3-9 to 1-7. After a close first half, the sides were level at half time on a score line of 1-4 each, Dunmanway started the second half well to score the first three points of the half, but the Ross lads responded well to this and went on to take control and won on a final score of 3-9 to 1-7. Team: Daragh Twomey, Ciaran McCarthy, Evan Fitzpatrick, Cormac Cuinnea, Cillian Eady, Colm Cuinnea, Conor Twomey, Paul Murphy, Ryan Hayes, Ben Lenihan, Annraoi Creedon, Colm Hayes and Robbie Wilson, Ronan Hayes.
While on Thursday night last the second under 12 team played Kilmacabea and after putting in a great display, had to give way in the end to a stronger Kilmacabea outfit on a score line of 5-8 to 2-8. Kilmacabea opened the scoring with two goals and a point before the Ross lads brought themselves back into the game with a goal and a point. The young Rangers kept battling and were trailing at half time by four points, with the second half following the same pattern as the first. Overall this was a great display; Cian Barry could not be faulted for any of the goals and his kick outs were excellent always finding a Ross man. The full back line of Ciaran McCarthy and Evan Fitzpatrick gave very little away and were ably assisted by the half back line of the two Cuinnea brothers Cormac and Colm and Alan Luuk. The midfield pairing of Robbie Wilson and Paul Murphy battled for everything in the middle of the field with Paul Murphy driving his team forward at every opportunity, the half forward line were well led by Ben Linehan who was always looking to get on the ball and was ably assisted by Olan Murphy and Colm Hayes who got some great scores. The full forward line of Brian Collins and Ronan Hayes won some great ball and used it to great effect and brought the other forwards into the game with some neat passes. While the subs used, Karl O’Regan, James O’Keffee and Fionn Lawlor when introduced all played their part with Fionn Lawlor scoring two very good points. Team: Cian Barry, Ciaran McCarthy, Evan Fitzpatrick, Cormac Cuinnea, Colm Cuinnea, Alan Luuk, Robbie Wilson, Paul Murphy, Colm Hayes, Ben Lenihan, Olan Murphy, Brian Collins, Ronan Hayes. It was a busy week for Carbery Rangers under 16 footballers in the premier 2 football championship. On Thursday last September 8th, they played Bandon in the quarter final and had a comfortable win on a final score of 2-22 to 1-03. At half time Ross were ahead 0-16 to no score thanks to great team play and good point taking by all the forwards and four great points kicked by wing back Cathal Keane. In a tough and physical game Ross were first off the mark after Patrick Hurley was fouled and Daragh Hayes converted the free. It was 2 points each when JP Eady scored a cracking goal and four minutes later JP found the net again. Both teams were giving it their all and at half time Ross were ahead 2-03 to 0-3. At the restart both teams exchanged points before JP Eady found the net again when he kicked from about thirty yards and the ball fell into the back of the net. Valleys didn't sit back and continued to pile on the pressure and credit must be given to tremendous defending by the backs and in particular two magnificent Araon O Brien saves in the Ross goal. On Saturday last, October 1st the under 16 footballers played Killshannig in The Carrigaline Court Rebel Og Premier 2 County Football Final in Coachford and were unfortunate to come out on the wrong side of the result on a final score of 3-5 to 1-8. Kilshannig won the toss but opted to play into a stiff breeze in the first half. Rangers were 2 points to no score ahead before Kilshannig registered their first score in the 10th minute. After 17 minutes Killshannig got their first goal to go 1-3 to 0-2 ahead. Rangers were unlucky soon after to have a shot come back off the crossbar and on the 30th minute Kilshannig got their second goal which was followed by a Ross point to leave the half time score 2-3 to 0-4 in favour of Killshannig. On the 44th minute Killlshannig found the net again to leave the score 3-4 to 0-4. Ross however responded in dramatic fashion to play their best football of the match and on the 50th minute Daragh Hayes found the net and by the 58th minute Rangers had the lead reduced to 3 points after a terrific comeback. On Thursday night last October 6th, the second under 12 team played Caheragh in the 'C' Cup semi-final, the game was played under lights in Caheragh and after a bright start by both teams with scores coming fast and quick, Caheragh lead at half time by 3 points. Caheragh applied a great deal of pressure in the first ten minutes of the second half and scored 2-4 without reply. The Ross lads finished stronger but could not cut back the sizeable lead that Caheragh had built up early on and finished up losing by 9 points. They now meet Bantry in the plate semi-final. On Sunday October 9th the under 12 'A' footballers played Castlehavean in the cup semi-final and after an exciting game lost out on a final score of 6-4 to 3-7. In an exciting game that ebbed and flowed from start to finish with both teams going at it from the start, Castlehaven led at half time on a score line 2-3 to 1-3. The second half followed the same pattern as the first, the Ross backs were defending with great determination and were unlucky to concede a few goals which gave Castlehavean a comfortable cushion on the scoreboard. Without ever dropping their heads the Ross lads brought themselves right back into the game with goals of their own and a number of well taken points. With five minutes to go they had whittled the lead down to four points, but the turning point came when the Ross lads had a goal disallowed for a square infringement and from the resultant free Castlehavean went up the field and got a goal which killed off the comeback from the Ross lads and Castlehavean ran out winners on a score line of 6-4 to 3-7. This was a great team effort with the young Rangers showing a never say die attitude to the end. They now meet Newcestown in the Plate Semi-Final Panel: Darragh Twomey, Eamonn Hodnett, Colm Cuinnea, Ryan Hayes, Paul Murphy, Cormac Cuinnea, Conor Twomey, Colm Hayes, Annraoi Creedon, Bosco de Pardo, Andrew Kevane, Ronan Hayes, Ben Linehan, Ciaran McCarthy, Robbie Wilson, Evan Fitzpatrick, Olan Murphy, Alan Luuk, Fionn Lawlor, Cian Barry.

Well done to the senior footballers who had a good win over Monaleen in the quarter final of the Munster championship on Sunday last in the Gaelic Grounds, Limerick on a final score of 2-11 to 0-7. They are now into the semi final against the Waterford champions to be played on the weekend of the 13th of November in a Cork venue. After the excitement and celebrations of winning the county final, it was good to get back on the road again. Monaleen started well and managed to create a few goal chances, but good defending by the Ross lads and excellent goal keeping from Paul Shanhan prevented them from registering a goal. Ross settled well and by half time they were leading on a score of 1-8 to 0-3, with the impressive Alan Jennings getting the goal. Ross started the second half as they finished the first and in their first attack, John Hayes was fouled when in on goal and from the resulting penalty John Hayes finished to the net to register the second goal of the game. This score gave the Ross lads a cushion that they held until the final whistle, winning out by 10 points in the end. Team: Paul Shanahan, Micheal Kelly, Brian Shanahan, Robert Hegarty, Robbie Kiely, Thomas O’Rourke, Jerry O’Riordan, Kevin McMahon, James Fitzpatrick, Alan Jennings, Chris O’Donovan, Micheal Mennis, John O’Rourke, Seamus Hayes, John Hayes. Hard luck to the under 12 (B) footballers were in action on Thursday night last, October 27th against Bandon in the semi final of the plate. In a very entertaining game with some excellent football being played by both sides, Bandon led at half time by four points. The young Rangers showed great heart with a never say die attitude and never let Bandon to far out of sight; in a high scoring game for this time of year, scores were coming fast and furious with some excellent points being scored by both teams. In the end Bandon ran out winners on a score line of 2-12 to 1-13. Panel: Cian Barry, Evan Fitz, Robbie Wilson, Ciaran McCarthy, Colm Cuinnea, Paul Murphy, Bosco de Prado, Colm Hayes, Ronan Hayes, Ben Linehan Alan Luuk, Brian Collins Olan Murphy, Fionn Lawlor, James O’Keffee. Then on Monday night, October 31st, the under 12 (A) team were in action in the final of their plate against a Drimoleague side. Once again this was a very entertaining game of football, the Ross boys started well and only for some good saves by the Drimoleague goalkeeper they could have found themselves ahead by the break. A stronger Drimoleague outfit eventually broke the Rangers resistance and led at half time by three points. The second half was evenly balanced with both teams going at it from the start and with scores hard to come by, the difference in the end was Drimoleague's two goals. The final score was Drimoleague 2-7 to Carbery Rangers 0-8. Panel: Darragh Twomey, Eamonn Hodnett, Col Cuinnea, Ryan Hayes, Paul Murphy, Cormac Cuinnea, Conor Twomey, Colm Hayes, Annraoi Creedon, Bosco de Pardo, Andrew Kevane, Ronan, Hayes, Ben Linehan, Ciaran McCarthy, Robbie Wilson, Evan Fitz, Olan Murphy, Alan Luuk, Fionn Lawlor, Cian Barry. Ciaran Santry then got his first goal of the night for Ross, Castlehaven then equalised from a penalty, Castlehaven then went on to score another 2 goals and a point to make it 3-2 to 1-1. It was end to end football, with Daragh Twomey pulling off a great save before half time, leaving Castlehaven leading at half time on a score of 3-4 to 1-1. The second half was a thriller, with both sides playing great football. A Ciaran Santry point from a free got Ross back on the score board, but Castlehaven responded with another goal. Tremendous play from the whole Ross team saw Ciaran Santry convert a free and score a great point to give Ross a dangerous lead of two points up with only two minutes left. In the final play of the game Castlehaven came down the field and the ball ended up in the back of the Ross net. Heart break for the Ross lads after a terrific game. The under 16 first team were also in action last week, playing on Thursday night, November 3rd, in what was a very busy week for the club. They played Valley Rovers in the semi-final of the premier 2 league in Clonakilty. James O Riordain opened the scoring with a point, but Valleys replied with a goal and two points before James O Riordain got another point for Ross. Daragh Hayes converted a free and soon after added a goal and two points, Patrick Hurley then got another Ross goal to make give the Ross lads a lead of 2-6 to 1-2. On Saturday, November 5th, the minor footballers took to the field against the Premier 2A Champions Buttevant in the league semi final. Buttevant turned the game around very quickly, scoring a point and two goals to level the game on a score of 2-02 to 1-05 at half time. Considering the wind Ross were playing into for the second half, the Ross men played great football all over the pitch but special mention has to go to the defense and midfield for the hard work. They were rewarded with a great point from the outstanding Mark Hodnett. John Patrick Eady pulled off a great save and from that, a great Ross move up the field resulted in a cracking goal from James O Riordain. Munster Senior Semi Final
Hard luck to the senior footballers who were beaten by The Nire in Clonakilty last Sunday in the semi-final of the Munster championship. The game was level after normal time on a score of 1-11 each, but in extra time The Nire ran out winners on a score of 2-15 to 1-12.
Ross who were missing a number of key players due to injury had a great start to the game and were well on top in the first half with a John Hayes goal giving them a lead of 1-6 to 0-4 at half time. A second half goal for The Nire bought them right back into the game and with the momentum of the goal behind them, they took the game to the Ross lads. With time almost up they took the lead, but a John Hayes free after good work from Jerry O'Riordan leveled the game with only one minute remaining. In remaining frantic few minutes, The Nire scored another point but again the Ross lads responded this time with Seamus Hayes getting the important score to take the game to extra time. In extra time, the tired legs and the injury count began to take effect on the game and when The Nire managed to get in for a goal, the Ross lads were up against it. But credit to the team who fought to the end and were unlucky not to get a goal of their own, eventually losing out on a score of 2-15 to 1-12. 2016 will go down as a historic year for the club, well done to the team, the management and all involved. Team: Ronan Milner, Micheal Kelly, Thomas O’Rourke, Stephen Murray, Jerry O’Riordan, Robbie Kiely, Padraig Hodnett, Brian Shanahan, James Fitzpatrick, Alan Jennings, Brian Hodnett, Kevin McMahon, Chris O’Donovan, Cathal O’Rourke, John Hayes. From the throw in, Ross got their first goal thanks to John O Brien. Both teams exchanged points with the Ross lads getting 3 points while The Barrs got 2 points, before Daragh Hayes got Rangers the second goal for Ross in the 12th minute after great team work to make it 2-3 to 0-2. At this stage, Ross were on top all over the field. With Kaelan Scannell, Cathal Keane and JP Eady all playing great football, with Ross scoring another 5 points to leave them leading at half time on a score of 2-8 to 0-3. Ross continued to dominate in the second half, scoring another 2 points before JP Eady scored a goal in the 15th minute to make it 3-10 to 0-5. After that, The Barrs had their best period of play and for the next 10 minutes reducing the score to 3-10 to 0-10. Ross responded well and took control again with James O Riordain working hard around the middle of the field and the defense gaining the upper hand again. Daragh Hayes then converted a free after James O Riordain was fouled and soon after The Barrs got a goal to make it 3-11 to 1-10 . But it was a little too late and Ross finished off their scoring with the score of the game, a super series of hand passes up the field resulting in a goal by Darren Hayes to make the full time score 4-11 to 1-10. This was a great result and a brilliant overall team performance.
