A young Ranger's U21 team , despite a great effort lost their u21 Championship game in Drimoleague on Sunday. Team Darragh Twomey, Ben Sheehy, Killian Eady, Cathal Buchanan, Eamon Hodnett, Padraig Tobin, Jerry McCarthy, Timothy Cullinane 0-04 ( 0-01 free 0-01 play & 1×2pt ), Conor Twomey, Seamus Lane, Ben Linehan 1 × 2pt , Ronan Hayes, Dylan O Neill 0-05 F, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Colm Hayes. Subs Ronan Hayes Sean Cuinnea. At half time , after an exciting first half, Rangers were ahead by a point, 0-07 to 0-06, a two pointer from play from Ben Linehan giving Rangers the lead at the half time whistle. Within eight minutes of the restart, Bantry had kicked 2 points and scored 2 goals to put them ahead by 7, 2-08 to 0-07. But Rangers kept their heads and got the next four scores & held Bantry scoreless. Confusion surrounded one , the ref awarded a penalty which Timothy Cullinane scored but as he was kicking it, one of the linesman had his flag up. The ref after speaking to him decided it was a free and as Timothy was about to take it , the other linesman had his flag up. On speaking to him the ref reawarded the penalty which went over the bar. With 5 minutes remaining Rangers were just 3 points down and continued to battle hard but a point from Bantry in the final minutes gave then their win.
