U14 LEAGUE CHAMPIONS:
Last Sunday morning Carbery Rangers U14 hurlers travelled to Clonakilty to take on Barryroe in the league final. It was the third occasion these sides had met and with a win each a close encounter was expected. Unfortunately the weather was horrible but the pitch held up very well to the conditions.
From the throw in Ross raced into a 4 point lead with scores from Cathal O’ Rourke, Robert Hegarty, Sean Gordon and Brian Callanan. Barryroe pulled 2 back but Robert Hegarty blasted a goal and  a point to put the Ross lads in command. The half back line of Edmond Beese , Jack O’Donoghue and Adam O’Mahony were in control and snuffed out the opposition attack. Both sides landed points as the game approached half time, and when ref Michael Collins blew for half time Ross had a lead of 1.06/ 0.04 .
On the restart Barryroe put on great pressure but the Ross full back line of Cian Daly, and John Hodnett were outstanding and David O’ Donovan in goal had little to do. Cathal O’ Rourke drilled in a great goal and Sean Gordon put over 3 points (2 frees) to stretch the lead. Michael O’Mahony worked hard on the edge of the square and on the 17 minute Danny Reynolds popped up to score a goal from close range. Some astute changes from the Ross side line yielded dividends and super sub Cathal Hennessy cracked in a goal and a point to seal victory. Final score Ross 4-10 Barryroe 0-05 . Fachtna Mc Carthy of Bord na nOg presented the plaque to captain Danny Reynolds. Subs Cian O Hea, Brian O’ Sullivan, Ciaran Prendergast, Stephen O’ Donoghue, Christopher Prendergast.
