On Thursday last, The Club in conjunction with Lisheen's House Skibbereen had a very successful Mental Health and Well-being Information Evening for the Club's teenagers and parents.
Carbery Rangers Gaa Club would like to thank Lisheen's House and the fantastic speakers for empowering everyone in attendance with their knowledge and also , Carbery Rangers are honoured and privileged to be the first Gaa Club to have Lisheen's House speak to a Gaa Community in Cork on such an important matter.
A large crowd , including players, coaches, club officers, parents and representatives from our schools were given a very powerful and useful presentation on Mental Health,  the importance of promoting mental health and well-being , how we need to dispel the stigma , prejudice and misconceptions surrounding Mental Health, Cyberbulling And the importance of asking for help and/ or recognising when someone is struggling.
Noreen Murphy who founded Lisheen's House  gave a very powerful opening talk,  followed by Garda Evan from Clonakilty Garda Station.  We then had presentations from Mick, Paddy, Lisa and Olivia from Lisheen's House  as well as audience role play .
There is no doubt, following this super presentation,  that those in attendance,  left feeling more comfortable about talking about Mental Health,  asking for help, recognising that someone is struggling and needs help, and also how lucky we are as a community to have the services offered by Lisheen's House on our doorstep.
Once again thanks to Lisheen's House and to all those who attended a very worthwhile evening in particular all the young people in attendance.
