The Club would like to extend sympathy to The Hayes Family Tanyard Lane on the passing of Club Vice President, Tom Hayes. Tom was an active member of Carbery Rangers throughout his life fulfilling roles as player, officer and finally as Club Vice President. Tom was instrumental in the development of Newtown which finally gave our club a place to call home. As long as football is played in Newtown, Tom should be remembered for his huge part in making it happen for our club. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h'anam.

In The Preliminary Round of The Premier 1 Minor Football Championship , Carbery Rangers played Douglas in Cloughduv last Wednesday and were unlucky to come out on the losing side by just a point, in a tough game that could have gone either way. A Douglas free deep into injury time snatched victory for Douglas 1-11 to 0-13.Douglas started better and were 0-4 to 0-2 ahead after 12 minutes with the Ross points coming from Patrick Hurley and a Daragh Hayes free. Ross settled after that , Araon O Brien pulling off a great save and 2 more points from Patrick Hurley and Ciaran Calnan to make it 0-4 each. Ross were unlucky not to goal after a shot from Paul Hodnett skimmed past the outside of the post . Both sides traded points before the first half ended with Douglas going to the dressing room ahead 0-7 to 0-6.>From the resumption Ross dominated the opening 15 mins and were 0-10 to 0-7 ahead when Douglas started to improve and scored 1-01 within 2 minutes to make it 1-09 to 0-11. A free from Daragh Hayes levelled the game and another put Ross ahead by one but Douglas levelled the game just at the end of normal time and 4 minutes into injury time they kicked the winner from a free.Ross now play St Michaels in the next round.Team Araon O Brien Mark O Sullivan Diarmuid Kerr Peter Og Hill David O Regan Kaelan Scannell Kieran O Regan Ciaran Calnan John O Brien Fintan Barrett Paul Hodnett Patrick Hurley Jack O Regan JP Eady Daragh Hayes Subs Barry Kerr Eoghan Hayes
