All Ireland Scór na nÓg Ballad Group Champions 2018
Weekends like the past one will live long in the memory and the history books of Carbery Rangers Gaa Club following Our Ballad Groups fantastic achievement on winning the All Ireland 2018 Scór na nÓg Final in Sligo on Saturday last. Comhghairdeas Orlagh O Gorman, Rachel Hodnett, Aoife McSweeney, Joan O Donovan agus Kate Creedon. The girls gave beautiful renditions of " Lovely Derry on the banks of the Foyle" and "Moll Dubh A'Gleanna". Following a very nervous wait , at around 8pm they were crowned All Ireland Champions . The large Rosscarbery contingent who travelled to Sligo brought the house down when the result was announced, with the girls overcoming serious competition from Cavan, Longford and Leitrim. Following the announcement the girls were presented with their Cup by Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael , Aogán Ó Fearghail. The Ballad Group reached the All Ireland Final in 2017 also but their continued hardwork and commitment was justly rewarded in Sligo on Saturday night. There were great scenes of joy in The Celtic Ross on Sunday night when The All Ireland Champions returned home to Rosscarbery .with their families to a huge crowd. The Champions were welcomed home by Carbery Rangers Club Chairman John Murphy, who acknowledged their talent, hardwork, commitment and also how proud the club were of them. It was a very special weekend for The Girls and all those involved. They did themselves, their families, Carbery Rangers, The Carbery division, Cork and Munster proud. The club would like to thank all those who sent wishes of good luck and congratulations. And to all those who travelled to Sligo and who attended the home coming in The Celtic Ross. A lifetime member of our club, Bill Harte, was in Silgo on Saturday and was given special mention by The Gaa President as Bill has not missed The Scór Finals since 1969. Well done again Rachel, Kate , Joan, Aoife and Orlagh. And also to all those involved in preparing the girls through out the year. And a thank you also to The Celtic Ross for accommodating the victorious homecoming. You can watch the girl's fantastic performance on The Carbery Rangers Facebook page.
