Under 16 Footballers
Our under 16's played Nemo Rangers in the premier 1 championship semi final on Monday night in Clonakilty winning out on a final score of 6-14 to 4-9. They are now through to the county final after an outstanding game of football played between two great teams and from a Ross point of view, a massive team effort with everyone leaving everything on the pitch.

Paul Hodnett opened the scoring with a point and it was then both teams traded points with Evan Browne scoring three points and Ciaran Calnan also registering a point. Then in the 18th minute, Paul Hodnett turned over possession around the middle of the field and a great move saw JP Eady get Ross's first goal of the night. Two minutes later a great effort for a point from Ciaran Calnan came back off the upright and Jack Kevane got the rebound and buried it in the back of the Nemo net to make it 2-5 to 0-4. Nemo responded to score a free but some great team work and super passing of the ball into full forward JP Eady saw him get two points to push Ross's lead out to 2-7 to 0-5, before Nemo scored another free. Nemo were doing their best to break down the tight Ross defense and in the 27th minute Aaron O'Brien pulled off a top class save. Nemo finished the half with a point to leave Ross leading at the break on a score of 2-7 to 0-7.

Within three minutes of the restart, Nemo had a point and converted a penalty to the score 2-7 to 1-8, the Ross lads then dug deep and they began to take control all over the field. A free in from Paul Hodnett was delivered to JP Eady and he made no mistake to score his second goal, this was quickly followed by points from Paul Hodnett and JP Eady. Nemo replied with a point, but on the 40th minute a super move saw Paul Hodnett score a goal and a further point from him then made it 4-9 to 1-9. Nemo weren't about the throw the towel in and by the 45th minute they had two goals of their own scored to reduce the Ross lead. Then a great move started in the Ross half back line by Paul Hodnett found Jack Kevane who scored another goal. With ten minutes remaining on the clock, Ross pushed on to dominate around the middle of the field and points from Paul Hodnett, Peadar O'Rourke who came on and made a huge contribution, Eoghan Hayes and another goal by JP Eady gave Ross a 6-13 to 3-9 lead before Nemo goaled. At that stage time was almost up and victory was sealed when Peadar O'Rourke kicked over his second and the last score of the game to give Ross a well deserved and outstanding win on a final score of 6-14 to 4-9 in a game that was end to end with both teams giving everything on the night.
