Ross started well and had three points from play on the board from James O'Riordan, David O'Donovan and wing back Cathal Hennessy before a well worked move involving Mark Hodnett and Darragh Hayes saw David O'Donovan finish to the net. This was followed up by a Mark Hodnett free to leave the Ross lads leading at the break on a score of 1-4 to 0-5. In the second half Ilen Rovers kicked some good points to take the lead, Ross reponded with with 3 frees from Mark Hodnett and point from play from John Hodnett to leave a single point between the teams with time almost up, Ross continued to attack but the Ilen defense held strong to give Ilen a single point win, hard luck to all involved.

Under 16 footballers

On a busy day for the club, the under 16's were also in action on Sunday morning last playing Ballincollig at home in the premier 2 league. After an exciting game, the Ross lads won by a single point on a final score of 2-12 to 4-5.

Ballincollig got off to a better start scoring 1-1 before Ross opened their account with a free by Jack O Regan. Two more points from Ciaran Calnan and Jack O Regan were followed by a point from the visitors. Araon O Brien then pulled off a great save to prevent a Ballincollig goal. Two pointed frees from Jack O Regan and two points from play from JP Eady left the Ross lads trailing at half time on a score of 0-7 to 2-2.

On the resumption  both teams traded scores with JP Eady getting a goal to put Ross in front for the first time in the game; Ballincollig were quick to respond with a goal, but points from Jack O'Regan and JP Eady put Ross back in front before a Harry Oates goal put four point between the teams. But credit to Ballincollig who didn't give up and in the last few minutes were awarded a penalty, this was converted to leave a single point between the teams at the end of an exciting game, with Ross winning out on a final score of 2-12 to 4-5
