Good luck to the local Ballad group representing Carbery Rangers in the All Ireland Scór na nÓg Final in Belfast. Joan, Aoife, Orlagh, Kate and Rachel's powerful rendition of 'Through the Eyes of an Irishman' and 'Níl na' is sure to bring the house down. Go n-eiri libh!


We had no winner of this week's jackpot, the numbers drawn were 16, 19 and 29. Consolation prizes: €50 Ml O'Brien, Newtown; €30 Patricia O'Donovan, St. Fachtna's; €20 Lordan Family, Clonakilty; €20 Don Looney. Next weeks draw will take place in O'Brien's Bar with a jackpot of €3,800.

Glenville Cup
Well done to the under 21 footballers who had a good win over O'Donovan Rossa in the last group game of the Glenville cup on Sunday last on a final score of 2-12 to 2-10.


Ross lead at half time on a score of 1-7 to 0-5 with Darragh Hayes getting the Ross goal. Ross were well on top at the start of the second half but failed convert the possession into scores. Skibb did get through for a goal chance, but an excellent save from Shane O'Sullivan kept Ross leading by 5 points. Ross responded to this by adding 2 points from Darragh Hayes and another from Brian Calnan. Skibb then got in for two goals which meant for a close finish, with 5 minutes left Ross had a 2 point lead but they defended well and held out for a good win.

Upcoming Fixtures
The first game of the year for the senior footballers is on Sunday next, February 12th at 2.30pm in Rosscarbery, when they play Castlehaven in the Kelleher Shield. While on Saturday the 11th, the junior footballers kick off their season also against Castlehaven in the league, in Rosscarbery at 3.45pm. Please check locally to make sure that these fixtures haven't changed.
