Minor league Final
Hard luck to the minor footballers who were narrowly beaten by Bishopstown in the Premier 2A league final played last Friday night in Carrigaline on a final score of 1-10 to 1-9.
Ross got off to a great start and were 2 points up through frees from Daragh Hayes and Mark Hodnett. Bishopstown then replied with a goal and 2 points, but didn't score again for the remainder of the first half. Further points from Mark Hodnett, Chris Prendergast, Stephen O'Donoghue and a free from Daragh Hayes gave Ross a two point lead at half time on a score of 1-2 to 0-7.
In the second half, Bishopstown started well and within 10 minutes the sides were level on a score of 1-5 to 0-8. Then both sides traded scores before Bishopstown managed to get in front. Ross responded well and some good defensive work followed by a brilliant pass after a great run by James O'Riordain saw Chris Prendergast score a great goal to put Ross ahead by 2 points with time running out, but Bishopstown managed to level the score and with the last kick of the game they scored from a free to win by a single point on a final score of 1-10 to 1-09.
