Junior Football Championship
Well done to the junior footballers who had a good win over Clann na nGael in the first round of the West Cork Championship, played in Leap on Saturday night last. The final score was 1-12 to 1-07.
Ross started the game well and points from Damien O'Brien, Sean O'Neill, Mark Ronan, Eoin Lane and three from Brian Hodnett gave the Ross lads a one point lead at half time, 0-7 to 1-3. After the restart Mark Ronan won a good ball and his pass to Sean O'Neill resulted in a well taken goal from the Ross man. At this stage Ross were winning the midfield tussle and good defending from the Ross backs kept the scoring opportunities for Clann na nGael to a minimum. Further points from Brian Hodnett, David O'Donovan and three points from Sean O'Neill gave Ross a good win and sees them safely into the next round of championship on a final score of 1-12 to 1-7.

Underage Footballers
The under 16 footballers also had a good win over St. Vincents in the league on Tuesday night. Goals from Mark Hodnett, Alan O'Rourke, Aaron Harte and Eamonn Shanahan helped them to a comfortable win on a final score on 4-17 to 1-6.

Upcoming Fixtures
Good luck to the senior footballers are out again in senior championship this Sunday May the 17th, in Coachford at 3.30pm against Clyda Rovers. The under 13's footballers are playing Sam Maguires on Saturday the 16th of May at 3.30pm at home in Rosscarbery. Then on Monday night May 18th, the under 12 footballers are at home in Rosscarbery against Kilmeen at 7pm in the league. While in the non exam league, Ross minor footballers play Kilmurry in Rosscarbery on Tuesday the 19th of May and their final group game is against Eire Og in Ovens on the 2nd of June.
Please check locally to make sure that these fixtures haven't changed.
Under 6 and Under 8 training session's continue every Saturday mornings from 10.30am to 11.45am in the pitch in Newtown.

We had no winner of the weekly club lotto. The numbers drawn were 2, 10 and 34. Consolation prizes: €50 Paudi O'Donovan, Ross; €30 Ross Ladies GAA Club; €20 Sean Collins, Burgatia. Next weeks draw will take place in Sam's Cross, with a jackpot of €1.200.
