Notes September 23rd 2014 - 10/10/2014

Senior Footballers
Well done to the senior footballers who beat neighbours Clonakilty last Sunday evening in the senior county championship quarter on a final score of 1-13 to 1-08. Ross started well and had four points on the board before Clon responded well to pick off a few points. Towards the end of the first half Ross forward John Hayes was bought down as he made his way towards the goal and from the resulting penalty he scored a goal to give Ross a lead of 1-07 to 0-05 at half time.

Early in the second half Clon scored a goal from a long free kick that ended up in the net. Both teams then exchanged points, soon after Clon were reduced to 14 men and Ross took control of the game again, Clon had 2 more players sent off in separate off the ball incidents and both teams received a black card each with time almost up. In the end Ross used the numerical advantage to keep control of the ball ending up winning on a final score of 1-13 to 1-08. Ross now await the winners of the Bishopstown/Clyda Rovers replay to see who they play in the county semi final.
