Minor Football Championship
Hard luck to the minor footballers who were narrowly beaten by Western Gaels on Monday last in Enniskeane on a scoreline of 3-10 to 2-11. A goal from John Hodnett(Square) in the first half helped Ross to a half time lead of 1-6 to 1-3. In the second half another Ross goal from Cathal O'Rourke extended the lead, but Western Gaels responded well to level the up the game. In an exciting second half both teams traded points and going into the last 5 minutes Ross had a dangerous 2 point lead. A late Western Gaels goal proved to be the winning of the game. Ross had a chance to steal the win with the last kick of the game, but had a narrow miss from a penalty to leave them trailing at the end by 2 points on a score of 3-10 to 2-11.

Kelleher Shield
The senior footballers had a good win over Bishopstown on Sunday last in the Kelleher Shield. Five points from John Hayes and three from Sean O'Neill in the first half left Ross leading at the break on a score of 0-8 to 0-4. In the second half Ross played against a slight wind, but two early goals from Chris O'Donovan and Sean O'Neill pushed Ross further ahead. With Ross winning the midfield battle and the backs playing well, along with further points from Alan Jennings, Kevin MacMahon, Declan Hayes, Sean O'Neill, James Fitzpatrick, Ronan Milner, Thomas O'Rourke and two from John Hayes completed a good win for Ross on a final score of 2-17 to 1-06.

Upcoming Fixtures
The under 21 hurlers are playing St.Colums in the West Cork Championship on Tuesday August the 5th in Skibbereen at 7.30pm. And the minor hurlers are down to play Kilbrittain in championship on Friday August the 8th in Barryroe at 7.30pm. While the Junior B hurlers are also playing Kilbrittain in the West Cork Championship on Sunday the 10th of August. The under 14 hurlers are playing St. Oliver Plunketts in championship on Thursday August the 7th in Clonkailty at 7.30pm.

The under 16 footballers are playing Kilmeen away in Rossmore in the league on Friday, August the 1st at 7.30pm. And the under 16 footballers are out again on Monday, August the 4th in league action against O'Donovan Rossa in Rosscarbery at 7.30pm.
