Junior Championship
Well done to the Junior footballers had a great win over Dunmanway last Friday night in Rossmore, in the West Cork Junior A championship. The game was played in storm like weather, with both teams managing to play some good football despite the elements. A well taken goal by Chris O'Donovan in the first half helped Ross to a half time lead of 1-04 to 0-3. Both teams shared points in the second half with Ross maintaining the lead throughout and winning on a final score of 1-08 to 0-07.

Kelleher Shield
The senior footballers were in action against Douglas on Sunday last in the Kelleher Shield, this game was played in Ballygarvan. Ross played with the advantage of the wind in the first half and went in at half time leading by a single point on a score of 1-05 to 1-04. Playing against the elements in the second half, an improved display and a late penalty save by Paul Shanahan helped Ross to a good win on a final score of 1-12 to 1-09.

The first round of the senior football championship is fixed for Pairc Ui Rinn on Sunday May 11th at 4.15pm against Aghada, as part of a double header with O'Donovan Rossa playing Clyda Rovers in the first game at 2.30pm.

Upcoming Fixtures
The minor hurlers are down to play away against Kilbrittain in a league game on Thursday May 1st at 7.30pm. And the under 13 footballers are also in league action, playing against Bandon in Bandon on Monday May the 5th at 7.30pm.

Under 6 and Under 8 Training
Following on from the success of the Friday night indoor training sessions during the month of April, training will be switching to outdoors as and from Saturday the 3rd of May.

Weekly sessions will take place between 11am and 12 noon every Saturday morning in Newtown GAA pitch.

We had no winner of this week's jackpot; the numbers drawn were 6, 8 and 14. Consolation prizes: €50 Mike Cussen, Burgatia; €30 Nigel Vickery, Newmill; €20 Fachtna & Francis O'Callaghan, Barley Hill. Next weeks draw will take place in Nolans Bar with a jackpot of €1,600.
