The senior footballers played Ilen Rovers on Sunday in Rosscarbery in a very entertaining game that finished level after normal time on a scoreline of 0-12 to 1-09 with Ilen Rover's full forward Kevin O'Sullivan getting the goal in the first half. Ten minutes into the second half, an injury to Ross defender Gearoid O'Brien stopped the game for over 40 minutes. After this lengthy break in play both teams had their chances of winning the game in normal time. In extra time a well worked goal scored by Chris O'Donovan helped Ross to a good win on a final score of 1-15 to 2-09.

Ross are now into the final of this competition and will play Ballincollig this Saturday the 8th of February in Clonakilty at 3pm.

Ross started well winning the midfield battle and took control of the game with four points from full forward Brian Shanahan, two from Padraig Hicks and a point each from Declan Hayes and Sean O'Neill in the first half. But a good goal from the Ilen Rovers full forward level the scoring at half time at 0-08 to 1-05.

Ilen took the lead in the second half and when the game was stopped due to an injury, Ilen were leading by two points on a score of 1-08 to 0-09 points, with Brian Shanahan getting the Ross score. When the game was restarted two more points from Padraig Hicks and an Ilen point saw the Ilen lead reduced to a single point. With time almost up, Ross midfielder Kevin MacMahon scored the equalising point taking the game into extra time.

In the first half of extra time, Ross got on top and points from Brian Shanahan, Sean O'Neill and a goal from Chris O'Donovan helped Ross into a lead of five points. The final Ross score came from James Kinston, Ilen got a late goal to leave the final score 1-15 to 2-09.
